Beijing Academy of Science and Technology (BJAST)

Founded in 1984, the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology (BJAST) is a comprehensive research institution directly under the People's Government of Beijing Municipality.

BJAST has a workforce of approximately 2,300 staff members, comprising 12 functional departments, 13 internal institutions, six public research institutes and science outreach venues, as well as 10 directly affiliated enterprises.

Guided by its development strategy of innovation-driven growth, talent strengthening, service orientation, and openness, BJAST focuses on four key areas: smart cities, life and health sciences, ecological and environmental protection, and analytical testing. It also strengthens its distinctive strengths in science and technology think tanks and science communication, while proactively advancing research in emerging fields such as new materials, biotechnology, information and intelligent manufacturing, and new energy and low-carbon technologies.
